The CIAA announced their footballers of week 2. Here are the honourees:

FOOD LION OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
#50 Matthew Foster, Virginia State
(Jr., OL – Ellenwood, GA)
Matthew Foster anchored an offensive line that helped the Trojans gain 566 yards of total offense, the most in the CIAA through two weeks. Three different Virginia State running backs achieved career-high yardage en route to 401 yards on 50 rushes as a team in the 28-7 win against visiting Bluefield State. Also, on 23 passing attempts, the Trojans only surrendered one sack.
FOOD LION QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK
#3 Chris Perkins, St. Augustine’s
(So, QB – Spring Lake, NC)
Chris Perkins accounted for both of the Falcons’ touchdowns, including a 60-yard strike against Limestone. The Spring Lake, NC native completed 19 of 30 passes for 223 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the 73-14 loss.
FOOD LION RECEIVER OF THE WEEK
#6 Dah’Mear Triplett, Lincoln (Pa.)
(Jr., WR – Elkton, MD)
Dah’Mear Triplett had four receptions for 96 yards and two touchdowns to lead Lincoln (PA) to a 26-21 win over Central State, the Lions’ first road win since 2015. The Elkton, MD native had touchdowns of 12 and 30 yards and he also had a 51-yard reception, which had set Lincoln up in the red zone.

#3 Jada Byers, Virginia Union
(So, RB – Hammonton, NJ)
Jada Byers set a new Virginia Union and CIAA single-game rushing record with 319 yards in the upset road win over No. 3 Valdosta State, 45-40. The sophomore had 32 carries for three touchdowns and added another receiving touchdown on three receptions for 23 yards. In the second half, the Hammonton, NJ native rushed for touchdowns on three consecutive drives to flip a 27-24 deficit into a commanding 45-27 lead. He also earned his second straight Player of the Week honors.
FOOD LION DEFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK
#10 Ephraim Moore, Virginia Union
(Jr., CB – Odenton, MD)
Ephraim Moore recorded a game-high 14 tackles, including seven solo stops against Valdosta State. The junior also logged two pass deflections in the 45-40 win over the number-three ranked team in the country. His 14 total tackles are the second-most through two weeks of CIAA action.
FOOD LION LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK
#6 Montre Moore, Chowan
(Grad., LB – San Bernardino, CA)
Montre Moore had a game-high 16 total tackles (eight solo) and three stops for a loss in Chowan’s 23-21 loss to Tusculum. The San Bernardino, CA native’s 16 tackles and three stops for a loss is the most in the conference through two weeks. The graduate student also had a sack, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup.
FOOD LION DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
#90 Christian Bostic, Livingstone
(Fr., DL – Barnesville, GA)
Christian Bostic led the Blue Bears with eight total tackles and 2.5 stops for a loss in a 19-0 win over Elizabeth City State in the Vikings’ Down East Classic. The Barnesville, GA native also had a forced fumble and recovery. His recovery at the one-yard line set up an easy Livingstone touchdown, which put the Blue Bears ahead 13-0.
FOOD LION SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
#88 Brady Myers, Virginia Union
(Fr., K – Orlando, FL)
In the 45-40 win, Brady Myers converted all six of his extra points and made his only field goal attempt from 39 yards out. The Orlando, FL native’s field goal came with 29 seconds left in the first half to give the Panthers a 24-20 lead entering intermission. The freshman’s nine total points came on the road in front of a hostile crowd with a reported attendance of 4,001 people.
FOOD LION ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
#15 Isaiah Freeman, Lincoln (PA)
(Fr, QB – Chester, PA)
Isaiah Freeman threw for 140 yards and rushed for 70 in Lincoln’s 26-21 win over Central State. The Chester, PA passed for two touchdowns on 11-of-23 attempts while leading the Lions in rushing on 12 carries. Leading 20-14 in the fourth quarter, Freeman reeled off a 32 yard rush that moved Lincoln to the 25-yard line, resulting in the game-clinching touchdown. The freshman helped Lincoln earn its first road win since 2015.
